Swept Away

If given more time
we would have been closer.
My melody of comfort,
the ivory keys played with care.

Like grace notes embellishing a piece,
dissipating memories of your laughter ring through.
If given more time,
this song, bland and incomplete
would be captivating, compelling and clear.

You were swept away,
the wind taking our song.
It tangled with the score
leaving only a few sheets left to cherish.
But no more time was given.

Our song, an unfinished symphony
Though short, the harmonies are flawless.
All that remain are memories;
I treasure them,
for they are the notes that play our song.

I love you Jennifer and Angela. I can't wait until I can see you again!

stress and summer!

Well musical is over. And that makes me feel good... and sad at the same time. It was a blast while it lasted and yet, now things aren't as crazy-even though my life is in perma crazy mode right now. I just keep remembering that Summer is coming and stress free days are on the way!!
O ya I forgot to mention, I applied for a Job at the CIBC bank in Birch Hills. I would really like some prayer about that... I just really want this job and yet I really want God's will.
but I should go
Love you all

Craziness

Wow these past two weeks have been crazy!! School has been really busy and on top of it all musical and drama! Last week I had practice every night right after school til 6:30 and two of the other nights were til 9:30!! we started preformances this week. Our production isn't as big as they have been in the past, which kinda is a bummer, so we only have two evening preformances and one for our school. Other years we would preform for other schools during the day all week long and have like 3 or 4 night preformances, altogether preforming for around 3000 people. But our principal, who was very active in our productions, got transferred so some changes where made. But if any one wants to come to the musical/drama night it is tonight! haha ( a little short notice) and tomorrow night. tonight is at 8pm and tomorrow is at 7pm. I think tickets are $7. PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT US!!!

Lanah

ps. if you do come don't expect Beauty and the Beast or the Sound of Music like previous years. but don't worry it is funny!! I'm sure you will laugh whether it is meant to make you laugh or not!! hahah

Missions Adventure Report

Well I am back! Winnipeg was great. I have a lot of great memories and a lot of stories to tell...mostly funny ones! One thing that I didn't enjoy about it though was that I was sick every day except for the last day I was there. Every morning I would wake up feeling sick and that would last until about 1:00 in the after noon and then I would eat a supper that was about half the size of the my normal one. On Tuesday all I ate was 4 crackers, half a granola bar, 1 orange segment and like 4 waters. But I slowly became better by the last day....even though the last day wasn't even apart of the missions trip....it was sight seeing. I still participated in all of the ministries but with a little less gusto and determination as I would have wanted to. During this time I really felt like I was the weak one in the team and I was a contributing player to our team. This really frustrated me and it bothered me how I had to be the one being served rather than serving others and encouraging the team.

So most of my great memories are of the last three days out of the trip. On Thursday night it was really neat because we went to a restaraunt that we had cleaned windows for the night before. This Restaraunt was founded along with a theater by a man in the community activively involved with YWAM and New life ministries. the Restaraunt is very cheap and the theater is free but by looking at them you would never know that the majority of the people that eat their are very poor people and homless. Inside it is very modern and is decorated with Pier One style furniture. It is such a great idea. They even made meal cards that homeless people could buy that costs only a few dollars but with it they can get the special of the day for like 7 days.

After we went for supper we hung out in the house. ( the house by the way Lauren....was three floors high with a basement....and was sooo nice.. it didn't even smell funny!!) The guys went a little crazy with some washeable markers as you can see. but it was soo much fun!

Friday was our tourism day. We went to the forks and the Zoo. We had a blast. I mostly hung out with Andrea, Kenton and Travis and we took sooo many crazy pictures! And played in the Elevator for probably half an hour!

Saturday we came home. Our bus broke down ...sometime about some sort of fluid not getting to the break line and the E-break was stuck on or something.. I dont' know and then also the gas pedal kept breaking.... so we where stranded on the highway for a bit. I had to go to the bathroom so Me and Olivia and Jan went into the bush and took use of some fallen trees. Olivia and I decided to stay in the trees and build a fort. It was soo fun. We got a little wet and dirty but we didn't care.

Some ministries we did throughout the week were: Working at Winnipeg Harvest -sorting potatoes, onions and making kits for shelters. New life Ministries - cleaning up streets, allies, yards and buildings. Roses to Prostitutes- handing out roses to the working girls at night...only this time we didn't walk around we drove. Servant Evangelism -sharing a bagged lunch with a homeless person, meeting new people on the street and handing out Hot Chocolate.

The week was a blast...I spent alot of it praying, but I think that is what God was trying to teach me....to rely on him more!

Missions Adventures--Happy Easter

Hey everyone. I got told at church this morning by a certain someone that I hadn't posted in about two weeks ***cough cough Sharon***. So I thought maybe it was time to come up with something to write.

First off....HAPPY EASTER!!!! And no I am not talking about the Easter the world knows as bunnies and eggs...(what is the relation between the two anyways......) I am talking about the REAL Easter. Jesus is Alive!!! This year our Church had a Good Friday evening service and a Sunday morning service. Both where soo good. It was so amazing just to focus on the cross and then celebrate our risen Lord. Both services I felt where sooo powerful! I really enjoyed them!

So tomorrow I leave for my Missions trip to Winnipeg! Yes I am excited but also a little bit hesitant. I'm not nervous about anything... I did it in Vancouver no problem. I'm just a little nervous about team unity. I'm just really trying to give it to God. I don't want anything like that to hinder our group. I really think our team could just use some prayer in that area.

Well... I don't really know what else I should write about. I haven't even started packing yet and it is 6 pm. We leave tomorrow at 6:30!!!! thats sooo crazy.

Hungry?

Hey!
This Past weekend I was involved in the 30 hour famine at my Church. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a bunch of teens who Raise support money for World Vision and then stay up all night and don't eat anything.. for 30 hours. The money goes to starving families in poverty stricken countries. It was a really fun time. After 8 hours you hardly feel anything. I had 4 hours of sleep... which was a lot compared to the rest of the youth group. This Famine though has really just made me think about the Kids in Africa. As part of the Famine, World Vision sent us some clips of the families that they help. Many of the families don't have parents alive and they must find their own food. They grind up tree bark which has no nutritional value to it whatsoever and it takes more calories to grind up then it actually gives when you eat it. I can't imagine. In Canada, we eat when we are full and we say we are starving when we hardly feel hunger pains. We Live in a country who spends more money on trying to lose the weight we put on from the food we eat then we do on Children who have no food to eat. I think it is self-ish and wrong. It really breaks my heart.
During the Famine, My Friend Jonathon started thinking about how we are fasting and yet we are hardly thinking about God. So when he brought this up we announced that we where going to have a prayer meeting (this was at 3:50 in the morning). So about 12 of us just sat in a circle and prayed for 20-25 mins. It was really amazing, some of the thoughts and prayer requests that where brought up where really self less. One guy brought up that we go through this famine thinking about the end of it when we are actually going to eat again... the Kids that are starving don't know when they are going to eat.
Just a thought to close. If we as a nation are soo hungry why don't we fill it up with something that will actually satisfy the hunger, something Rather than food. God wants to fill us up, why aren't we letting him? I'm not saying quit eating.. I'm just saying that we need to listen to God more intently and let him fill us...This goes for more things than food... it may be media, material, substances , etc.
Think about it.

Jer 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, " plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you strength and a future." Jer 29:11
I am so thankful for an all knowing God because I know that I can't do it on my own.

Whats new

Wow I haven't posted in a month!! Thats a really long time and lots of stuff has happened since. Hmm... let me see. Well for starters for the February break my family and I went to Fairmont and rented a condo there. We did some skiing/snowboarding in the mountains it was soo much fun. And then in the evenings we went to the hot springs, which felt soo nice!! I will have to put up some pictures of that soon even though by the time I get them up they will be a little out dated.. but thats ok!!

Late breaking news. On Tuesday I got my braces off!!! Finally hey?? It was pretty exciting I must say! I put up a picture of me with my braces off.
The picture is of Me and my really great friend Andrea. She is the Mexican exchange student this year and I love her so much!! She and I get along really great and have really great memories together!!
But I should go!

Coming soon.... HOME ALONE 5...!!!!

So as some of you may know, my parents left me at home all by myself so that they could go to a pastors and wives retreat. They left Monday and come home Wednesday. You all may be thinking, ooo you poor thing... all by your lonesome. And others are more like, RIGHT ON ... WHENS THE PARTY!! Well sorry to dissapoint you but.... there is no party.. that is unless you invite me over for one!!! No I'm just teasing. But really, when I got told that they where going for three days I was more ...meh!! I'll miss them but I'm not going to be desperately lonely either.
But I guess the reason why I am blogging about this is because the whole situation just kind of reminded me of Home Alone. Personally I like the ones with the original Cast and not so much the newer two. Sorry to dissapoint you all though, no creeps have tried to break in to my house yet, but one thing that is for certain... my whole house is a booby trap waiting to be set off!! Yup I even did the whole egg yokes in a pale over the door trick and then once that is dumped on them a huge feather pillow will smack them in the face!! MWAHAHAHA oh the things I do!! So If any of you feel sorry for me I do ask you to come visit me but please know that it is at your own risk!!
Lanah
ps...I still have one more day of home alone the fifth so if any of you have any more ideas of what other traps I could set up please feel free to comment!!
pss... do you think they will make a movie of me too???

Friends like these.....

Hey everyone! So this week is exam week and I only have to write one exam...biology. I have to write it tomorrow (tuesday) at 12:30. It covers alot of what we did through out the semester so that means that it will be a long test... but the teacher that I have for bio gives very good study guides so I think I'll be alright.
But anyways I decided to post a few pictures of my friends. As you can tell alot of theses pictures are silly and may not make very much sense... but that pretty much describes how me and my friends work....well we don't lol! haha. Just kidding! But it is friends like these that make me smile and I care about all of you soo much!

Admiration

This is just a picture of some trees in my yard last year. We haven't seen too much 'horror frost', as they call it, this year but I love seeing it when it does happen. It is just soo pretty! When I was a little girl I would go outside, stand under a tree and shake a branch while closing my eyes and feeling the frost fall on me! Hey it feels neat! But the reason why I love this picture so much is because my Heavenly Father set each crystal on those banches.... INDIVIDUALLY! That tells me right there just how much He loves me and cares for me!

Winter in Saskatchewan!

Hey everyone! So this morning I woke up just like every school day morning at 6:50am and had a shower. While I was doing my hair and Makeup I hear on the Radio that buses to schools have been cancled and some schools have been closed. So then I look out side and its BLIZZARDING!!! I was so extremely excited! So all day I have been at home listening to the sounds of the wind howling and the fireplace fan kicking in and out. The pictures that I posted along with this are some things that can very easly describe a Saskatchewan winter. Wool socks, low temperatures, zero visibility!!

Because of the weather, Mom and dad have been keeping the radio on all day long. There is this guy on the Radio that people call in to and tell them how the weather is where they are. This one guy called in and was very calm and was telling the reporter all about the weather and how there is like zero visibility on the highway where he is driving. Then he interupts the reporter and too calmly says "hmmm... there is a car on the wrong side of the highway and they are driving towards me.... I better be careful!!" A couple thingst that I found funny about this is that not only was the guy abnormally calm, but he was also driving on a divided highway, and if the visibility is so bad then why is he driving and talking on the cell phone at the same time. Hahaha.... This made me laugh!

Back to the Grind

Hey everyone!
So today was the first day back at school from the holidays and that also means my first day back at teaching piano. The day was great, it felt extremely long but I'm glad it is nearly finished so that I can go to bed and have a good nights sleep. Only two more students and a little bit of homework and then I get to indulge in my favorite past time....reaching my REM!!!
Goodnews also. Megan made it safely to Tennessee!! I'm so excited for her. I am still waiting on news from Lauren but I know that she will make there safely and that everything is going well!
But I have to go... my other students are here!

The art of Orthodontics

So today I woke up at 6:00 am, which is a stretch for me because I am on Christmas holidays , just so that I could go to Saskatoon and sit in a Dentist chair for 2 and a half hours!! Well I did do some shopping too but that is besides that point. But anyways, I did get good news at the dentist! They took impressions today so that next time when I go they will have a retainer and bleaching kit ready for me because my braces are coming off in two weeks!! I am sooo excited. I will get them off hopefully in two weeks and then I will be bleaching for two to three weeks then I have to let them sit for a couple weeks then I get my laterals built up (I have two small teeth that need composite on them so that they look like a normal size for a tooth). And then I am done with ortho for life... well unless when I am old i need dentures....
So I am pretty pumped right now!
but I should go work on some accounting! (oh the joys of high school correspondence courses that you don't actually need but thought it may look good on a resume but in the mean time create a lot of bad tempers and stress!!!)

Blogging it up!

So this is the first time I have ever made a blog and I'm not too sure if it is going to work to hot but I guess we will find out won't we! So today is January 1st and last night I had a New Year's party at my house. Early this morning I also had to say goodbye to two of my very good friends...but only for a short time however, I know that it will feel like an eternity. Lauren is going on a DTS in Pismo Beach and Megan is going on a DTS in Nashville. I know that time will fly....especially for them and I know that they will learn so much but I also can't wait to have them back and hear of what they learned! but until then I will Pray for them continuously and try my hardest to keep in touch with them.
So a little about me. I just took my grade two theory exam on December 9th and I will be taking my Grade 8 Piano exam in spring. I also teach Piano to 4 kids and I am also involved in singing in church and youth.
But I should run. I hope that I can keep this blog up.... I guess it will kinda be my New Year's resolution and also a way to keep connected with My friends who are gone for a chapter.
Love and Prayers
